Career

Guillermo Salinas Pliego began his entrepreneurial career in 1980 when he founded Dataflux from the basement of his grandparents’ home, where he lived during his college years. The company initially specialized in data processing before transitioning into a distributor and assembler of computer equipment.

Under various brands such as Elektra, Newmax, and PK, he marketed the first microcomputers in Mexico, catalyzing innovation in the country. He later secured distribution agreements with Apple, Compaq, HP, Unisys, and IBM, among others. In short time, he emerged as a prominent leader in Mexico’s computer industry.

Due to the success in computer sales, in 1996, he established the ‘Mexican Institute of Computing’ (Instituto Mexicano de Computación – IMCO), which later became CNCI University (Universidad CNCI – Colegio Nacional de Cómputo e Inglés).

In 2003, Salinas consolidated his companies under a holding company named ‘Avalanz’, which includes several significant and successful companies in Mexico. During the same year, he also founded the CNCI Foundation.

Currently, Guillermo Salinas Pliego serves as a board member for Avalanz, Todito, Total Play and Madisa.
